At the young age of just 18, she made her debut on the Danish national team, and within the first 5 years of her career, she participated in no less than 4 finals and an Olympic Games.
Expectations from the outside were high from the start: "A superstar is born" the media said. But that was nothing compared to the pressure she put on herself.
"Back then, I had a goal of becoming the world's best handball player."
But suddenly, the handball adventure took an unexpected turn when Louise, at the age of 23, experienced an overload reaction. After that, she had to put her career on hold due to physical and mental fatigue.
Since then, she has worked to regain her level of play and now, 3 years later, her career is looking bright again as she signed a contract with the French top club Metz.
The break from handball has given the now 26-year-old back player a lot of experience. Now she advises other young talents to avoid falling into the same trap as she did.
"I hope my story can inspire other young ones to not absolutely aim to be the best already at 19. You will reach it!"
In today's SPORT 24 podcast, you can listen to the full story of the handball talent and why she believes that patience is a virtue on the way to stardom.
